Thanks Pip!
Mandy CosserForum ParticipantThank you everyone!
Pip – are you moving your photo archives across to Pixevity? With Penrhos’ long history in WA, I imagine the archive would be quite extensive. This is one of the aspects that is important to us, as Helena’s photos are currently in Lightroom, and we need an easier to use option for managing the photos and the metadata attached.
Lisa – Marcus has sent me your email address, so I will be in contact soon!
Mandy CosserForum ParticipantHi Bobbi
We have been using Exbo, and have found the service and pricing to be good. Their attention to detail in making sure that the large format signage is right and fits as specified has been very good, and their price was much better than some of the other quotes we have had. We have had them do wall-mounted wayfinding signs, freestanding permanent wayfinding signs, and hanging signs for our curved roof. The corflute signs (A-Frame and roster) have also been good quality.

Mandy CosserForum ParticipantThere are some really beautiful badges/pins available from Meritis – https://www.meritis.com.au/ if you are looking for super classy.
Mandy CosserForum ParticipantI can’t find the ones I was thinking of, unfortunately. Another more modern option would be a brushed metal/steel with either vinyl lettering or laser engraving – I do know that those would be out of my school’s budget!
Mandy CosserForum ParticipantI attended an event at the Joondalup Baptist College (Perth) some years ago, and recall seeing some really nice ones in what I think they called their ‘Graduation Walk’. Each pillar in the walk way featured a different graduating year group’s names. I remember thinking how great they looked. From my memory, they looked like a glass panel (could have been acryclic!) set off the brick on metal/stainless steel? and names engraved on each panel. Unfortunately, I don’t live near there anymore, so I don’t know who their current Comms person is.
EDIT – I just googled, the ones they have are not as I remembered – they are actually black panels, but the Graduation Walk part was right! I must have mis-remembered. If I remember where I saw the glass ones, I will let you know!

Mandy CosserForum ParticipantInvolve would have suited me at one of my previous schools – would have been an ideal option. I am looking for something quite simple as our volunteer program is much smaller at mu current school. I will look at Involve and Sign Up Genius. I have previously used SignUp.com, but found it fairly clunky. The most important thing for me is something that provides reminders to volunteers about jobs they have signed up for.
Mandy CosserForum ParticipantWe’ve recently handed out golf umbrellas to staff, which have proved very popular. What has been an unusual feedback is that they loved the fact the umbrellas came with a cover – and the cover had a strap, so you can sling it on your back when not in use. I hadn’t even realised they came with a cover. We have had some heavy showers in recent weeks, so it is good to see them out being used.
Mandy CosserForum ParticipantHi all – I am happy to share our newly implemented Use of Student Images policy https://media.digistormhosting.com.au/hc-au-wa-607-website/documents/Use-of-Student-Photos-Policy-2023.pdf?v=1690260953
We are only just rolling it out, and are currently running both permissions (from old policy and new one above) until we all parents have made their new choice. Our default position is No if we don’t have anything recorded from the old permissions list.
Mandy CosserForum ParticipantI am looking at implementation of Schoolbench at my current school, after using at my previous school. It is very hard to track manually when you have a large student body – at my previous school there were 1800 students, with about 300 of them with some kind of restriction. We have just completed the process of updating our Use of Student Images policy so that it gives parents clarity on what their options are, which makes it a lot easier for me. Combining this with facial recognition will absolutely save me hours of checking and rechecking manually, especially in larger groups and how quickly students change as they hit the teens! Our policy also includes specific wording about giving alumni the option of withdrawing permission at any point after graduation.

11/05/2017 at 14:08 in reply to: Calling our WA colleagues. Can you recommend a school app provider? #6887Mandy CosserForum ParticipantWe have used the Digistorm app very successfully. It is easy to use and the fact I can push notifications/calendar events to the website/app/Facebook page with a single data entry is great.
The biggest drawback is their location in Brisbane. The time difference can impact if there are issues late in the day WA time when their office is closed.
