    Hi Maree

Currently life membership covers two printed editions of our community magazine each year (one copy mailed to each household) and, until the end of this year, complimentary invitations to five year and beyond reunions. As we are a young school, we have been focusing on friendraising through our reunion program, but have now decided that, from the beginning of 2025, there will be a nominal cost to attend five and ten year reunions. Our one year reunions will remain as complimentary events.

    Best wishes

    Hi David

A very sensible step, for many reasons. We recently did the same thing and it’s so much better. Some of these reasons are (1) it’s a ‘bad look’ to charge families for their child to join an alumni organisation as they are leaving the school, either graduating Year 12 or other circumstances (2) some families will be reluctant to pay at that point in their relationship with the school. This means that you then have financial and non-financial members of your alumni organisation – a headache to manage (3) as a joining fee all students become a member of the alumni organisation, whenever they leave the school – easy to manage (4) no-one minds paying an additional fee when they join as they are always excited to be at a new school (5) overall income will rise as there will be more students joining the school than departing in Year 12.

It’s important to make sure that all stakeholders understand the benefits of the change and then implement it from the beginning of the following year – this allows time to update enrolment materials that mention fees and charges.

    Good luck

Hi Catherine – I can highly recommend David Johnson from OnTrack (DJohnson@OnTrackSportswear.com.au). Noone and OnTrack have provided a wonderful new uniform wardrobe for Cornish College (www.cornishcollege.vic.edu.au/enrolments/uniform/).

    Hi Danielle
We don’t do a newsletter any more, but have had great success with our weekly notices using the School Stream app. Highly recommended for a quick and efficient way to communicate with our families. It uses WordPress as the CMS, so really easy to use.
    All the best, Dennis

    Hi Michelle

We use both Facebook and Instagram to connect with our alumni. The Instagram page was set up a couple of years ago, based on the feedback of our younger alumni who said that they no longer used Facebook – Instagram is great for sharing event photos too. Generally we find that an older demographic uses Facebook with younger alumni almost exclusively on Instagram.

    Best wishes
    Dennis
