Hi! I believe that written policies on staff dress codes can be interrupted in many different ways. While it is great to have a written policy, I would also recommend having photos of what you mean by Neat Casual and Business, for example, and photos of what is and isn’t acceptable. There has been a shift within age groups of what each dress type means, and the photos display your intent very cleary. :)

Mandy, maybe you should speak to DIgistorm or EnrolHQ or whatever software you are using. Cheers M

Hi! We do allow the House Captains to post on their House Instagram accounts but not on any of the accounts that we manage. Some House Captains are more active than others.

Hi! Before a student commences at Santa Maria College, they receive a notification that they need to complete a Consent for Publication Form on EnrolHQ. The options are Social Media, Web, Print publications, Newspapers and Television, and this information transfers to Synergetic and then SEQTA. Each year, we produce a list of the students who are not to be photographed for any of the above. This does not apply to the yearbook.

Mandy, hi! When I first came to Perth and previously in Tasmania I did not subscribe to these – maybe if they were free but would not be wasting my money on any of them.

    Hi Gail,

Here a is snapshot of what we do to engage parents at our school:

Parent Sundowner & Connect Cafe: Casual meetups for parents to get to know each other.
Creative Workshops: Activities like pottery, painting, and cooking for parents and their kids.
Year Group Events: Organised by Parent Reps, these include coffee meetups, BBQs, and pizza nights.
Social Mixers: We host drinks and canapés events, especially when there is a school social, and include parents from our brother school.
Introvert-Friendly Options: Not every parent is up for social events. we have had success with webinars, like the Parent Kindness Challenge, which first started during COVID-19 and has been great for our boarding parents too.
Community Projects: A notable event was when over 80 parents and grandparents helped sew superhero capes for a children’s hospital charity, creating over 300 capes.
Mercy Day Fundraiser: Parents help prepare and sell 2,000 roses in either bunches of yellow roses, which is a big hit.

These activities offer various ways for parents to engage, depending on what they are comfortable with. It’s all about providing options and finding what resonates with different members of our community.

Hi! No agency have done this myself thats why the process has taken longer than I would have liked but early days and believe it is only going to get better. I will share some insights I am presenting on this at the WA Chapter Conference. So when I get a little bit more time… I will put some notes together.

    Dear Mara great article!

Thanks for sharing your insights. The Custom Audience feature is fabulous and Facebook are just rolling out retargeting to people who have interacted with a post as well. They were also talking about being able to retarget to people on Instagram via the Facebook Ads module. This is really exciting!! I think you will find that most school marketers say that when they survey parents about how did they find out about the school it is via friends and family. This is why Social Media…. especially Facebook is great…. I describe this as a place for word of mouth amplification.

At Santa Maria we are using Content Marketing to drive enrolments and this is proving to be extremely successful. It has taken a while to get into place but now we are nearly in full swing. We have created the change…. especially with the way we do our newsletter – check our blogs at http://www.santamaria.wa.edu.au
and our Santa Maria College Facebook Page.

Facebook Page engagement has been 46%, 68%, 68% – benchmark is 2.5% – reach around 20,000 per week. This will increase when we start doing some FB ads.

PS. Just in case anyone is not familiar with a pixel this is a piece of coding that is placed on your website to track who visits each page. If you are not great with the back end of your website your web developer can set this up for you.
