Like many Advancement teams across the Chapters, the Educate Plus team has recently experienced a shifting change in structure and demography. As a result, we have a great opportunity to optimise everyoneโs unique working styles and experience to further elevate the work we are doing.
As a leader, itโs essential to address these differences whilst fostering collaboration to build a team culture that is diverse and richer for the varying perspectives.

Older generations may prefer more formal communication such as emails or in-person meetings, while younger generations often favour instant messaging and collaborative platforms. Itโs important to establish clear communication channels that respect everyoneโs preferences, ensuring that team members feel understood and equally empowered.

๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ – Generational differences can influence expectations about work-life balance, career progression and job stability. For example, older team members may prioritise job security and a structured career path, while younger team members might value flexibility and purpose-driven work. These different values allow for more effective motivation and retention strategies.

Creating opportunities for reciprocal learning like reverse mentoring can help bridge skill gaps and foster collaboration, which ultimately leverages the strengths of each generation.
