About the role:
This role is responsible for delivering high-quality communications in support of the College’s community engagement and fundraising objectives. Working within the Marketing and Communications Office, the Communications Officer (Community) co-ordinates publications, digital content and social media to advance the College’s strategic priorities, strengthen community engagement and grow philanthropic support.
Key responsibilities include:
Alumni & Community Communications
- Strengthen relationships with alumni, parents, and friends of the College through strategic and tailored communications.
- Lead the coordination of printed and digital communications including;
- The bi-annual college magazine, Blue & White
- The Annual Philanthropy Report
- Bi-monthly alumni and parent e-newsletters
- Social media and website content
Fundraising Communications
- Work closely with the Director of Advancement to plan communications for the College’s fundraising programs and initiatives.
- Coordinate the development and delivery of a range of fundraising communications including physical mailouts, email campaigns and appeal videos, as needed, for;
- Annual Giving campaign
- Campaigns and Major Gifts
- Bequest Program
- Other fundraising campaigns, as needed
Selection Criteria:
Essential
- Relevant university degree (Communications, Marketing, Business) or equivalent relevant experience.
- Motivated to identify and deliver engaging stories to support the College’s fundraising and community engagement priorities.
- The ability to produce copy and content quickly and with a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent writing, editing and proofing skills, with a high attention to detail.
- Outstanding communication skills with the ability to develop a range of communications across a variety of channels.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and customer service skills along with the ability to work well with staff at all levels of the organisation.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- High level of competence and confidence in technology – Microsoft suite, Adobe suite (InDesign and Photoshop), CRM systems, social media.
- Ability to work in a small team with a hands-on approach.
Desirable
- Experience and understanding of donor engagement strategies, philanthropic messaging, and fundraising appeals across various channels.
- Experience in the educational and or tertiary educational sector is preferable but not essential.
- Desire to immerse in the culture of St Andrew’s College.
