We use Shootproof to provide event galleries to our community. You can create your own url links and password protect each gallery. It allows you to ask for an email address when they log in so you can see who is accessing. There is a free version with a limited number of images you can upload and then monthly subscriptions for various amounts of images. We use the 1500 image plan which is $14 a month.
You can also link to a photo lab based in Melbourne and allow people to order prints if they prefer (also allows free downloads of hi-res files). For prints you are given the wholesale rates and you can choose what sizes to offer and how much to charge. The order comes via you to approve (tick of a box) but then is printed and mailed straight to the family.
We have been using it for a few years and works really well for us.
