ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Alumni & Community Engagement Manager to join our Advancement team on a 13- month maternity leave contract. In this full-time role you will provide logistical and administrative support for the College’s friend-raising and fundraising activities in order to build positive and enduring College community relations. This position will focus on the development and implementation of a range of high quality events and programs for the College. Based in our Newtown, NSW campus, this is an exciting opportunity to work for a world-class University College within the University of Sydney and showcase your exceptional event planning and execution skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Responsible for delivering a calendar of engaging events and programs
- Lead coordination of a number of major College events
- Take on an active hosting and networking role at events
- Provide a welcoming and engaging personal point of contact for a wide range of community stakeholders
- Build and maintain relationships through tailored communications and events
- Ensure all alumni and donor records are accurate and up to date
- Work with the Advancement Communications Manager to develop high-quality digital and print communications
- Track, monitor and report on Alumni news
- Work with the Marketing & Communications Team to ensure social media channels and the College website are kept up to date
- Support the Director of Advancement and the Advancement Team with the College’s fundraising activities
- Responsible for managing one direct report
- Prepare Council reports, management papers and provide administrative support to the Advancement team as required
SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential:
- Excellent relationship management skills, with the ability to develop effective and ongoing relationships
- Relevant university degree (Communications, Marketing, Business) or equivalent relevant experience
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and customer service skills
- Excellent writing, editing and proofing skills, with high attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work independently on events and projects
- High level of competence and confidence in technology – CRM systems, databases, email, email software, social media, print and digital media
- Experience in event management/coordination
- Some after-hours work is required in relation to attending after-hours events
Desirable:
- Experience in the educational and or tertiary sector is preferable but not essential
- Experience and understanding of philanthropy is desirable but not essential
