Hi,
I’m working with our Principal and board on making significant changes commencing in 2027 regarding photo and video consent.
We currently have one consent form that encompasses everything, including socials, yearbook, etc. We have a very small handful of students who opt out. Moving forward, we will not be using images of students on any digital platform (website, socials, prospectus, etc) front-on, rather from behind, side-on, etc. In the printed format, we will use front-on images (including those for the Yearbook and tour pack collateral). The Yearbook will no longer be available online, so students will have only the printed format.
It’s all a work in progress that will go through the board. The consent form will look very different for 2027.
Our videos and photos will need to be more considered, which will be a challenge and take time to ensure we get the different shots we need for both digital and print. The website is a big one as there are so many images that we will have to replace. We are already banking a bunch of generic images.
Our social pages will still have everything from pre 2027 – I can’t see how you would erase that. It’s too important. But I totally see that, from 2027, we have to ensure there is no foreseeable harm to students, which is why all this change. AI has caused major issues for schools, students, and staff alike.
I feel there needs to be a lot of education in this space for marketers, principals, etc.
