You’re spot on regarding data minimisation and the COPC driving consent requirements after December. When photographing day-to-day events, our photographer already asks the student for consent first. Wherever there’s a ‘no’ – whether from the student or their parent – we accept it.
Similarly, we reach out to families ahead of a campaign/website shoot to confirm consent. But, with the COPC coming, I’m mindful we will need to formally refine processes. The COPC Exposure Draft that is currently on the OAIC’s website has been helpful in this space.
