Hi Tania
Waiting for the online privacy code ruling on or around 10 December 2026 to help inform what our policy will be for 2027, taking into account the AI piece amongst other things etc.
However to give context for 2026 and prior, we have always separated our consent to cover the following independently of each other:
social media – opt in
website – opt in
advertising – opt in
Bearing in mind, if I was to ever use a student for the website or advertising, out of courtesy I would reach out again to the applicable parents/s of their child’s inclusion.
Publications do not have an opt out – it is part of the enrolment conditions for a child to be featured in school publications such as a yearbook and or a magazine. This I should imagine will remain the same regardless of the December ruling.
My understanding is that moving forward from 2027 it is very much around ” data minimisation in the best interest of the child” – so the new online privacy code will be less about best practice and more about what we can versus what we cant do.
Regards
Rebecca
