Following my conversation with others above, my own understanding and consultation with TASS. I think I have ended up setting it up exactly as you have mentioned.
I struggled with the idea of one parent record and then host family/ rotary being in the Parent 1 / Parent 2 as the host family will change and both host families are current parents. It would be mean multiple logins across Parent Lounge and as we all know, one is bad enough let alone having to add a second to the mix!
So, I have essentially set them up as a complex split family with the actual biological parents and child on one family code. Then the host family attached as a second parent code. It also means when they change host family, I can detach the second family and attach the new one. Ultimately however, ensuring that in the future there is always a student record with family details that is correct.
