Hi Pip – as we have built it all in to our image use permission forms, and each family has been required to digitally complete the forms for every child they have enrolled, the implication is that by completing the form, they have absorbed the information. Students who do not have permission for their portrait photo to be uploaded into pixevety for the purpose of facial recognition come up as ‘unknown face’ on the images stored in pixevety and it has been explained to parents that as we cannot check the image permissions for ‘unknown faces’, we will never feature those images – even if they are happy for their child’s image to be used online and in our publications. We simply won’t use any photos where we can’t verify the image permissions of every student in the image. From 1579 students, we only have 25 students who can’t have a portrait on pixevety – 13 ELC, 4 PS and 8 HS – but they all have permission for images that they appear in to be uploaded to pixevety as archived images, which means that if/when their parents change their mind, we can upload a portrait of them and run the facial recognition on albums that they might appear in, to pick them up in the future.
