Hi Danielle,

I too thought of using SEQTA as a private forum/blog. We’re possibly thinking to combine SEQTA with Pixevety to send weekly links to private photo albums on Pixevety, we’re just concerned that our Executive Team and our Parents expect photos to be shared daily, not weekly.

Since you mentioned Pixevety is on your wish list, I also just thought I would give you my thoughts on our experience with it so far (3 months).

Personally, I think the idea and the technology is fantastic but it’s not perfect. The user experience with the app isn’t so great, but MarComms staff have learned how to use it amidst it’s flaws. Teachers seem to give up a little easier and some have low confidence, meaning we are receiving less content than we have previously.

The pros include: safe management of student images (no photos are stored on staff personal devices), facial recognition (great for identifying those on the “do not publish” list), ease of sharing images (staff no longer have to come to airdrop their photos in bits and pieces and we don’t get 10 emails from different staff as the uploads are fairly instant), archiving (the facial rec/tagging/built-in AI functions make it easy to search for images of people, events, subjects and even filter by year/house groups etc). It does have the function to share privately with parents, but this seems quite complicated to do from our side, has no caption function and as mentioned, we don’t think the app user experience is great so aren’t confident about sending this to our whole parent database just yet. We have been/will continue to trial this with. We have hade some app trouble and they seem to hear us, but not necessarily fix the issues – our troubles have particularly been with the upload queue and the lack of app function when in an offline environment (no wifi or 5G signal). All in all – I’m still happy with the product, and hope that our Executive team allow us to keep it despite us not using all functions (i.e. parent sharing). I’m also hoping the app/user experience will improve over time.

I hope this gives you an honest overview of what to expect and hope you manage to get this off your wish list and into your School!

Kind regards,
Abbey
