We’ve been running this process for approximately seven years, and it has worked very well. Families voluntarily submit their details via a form, which is then compiled and shared with other parents within the same year group. We do not extract contact details from our system automatically, families must actively choose to provide their information and can also provide whatever information they wish (e.g. a different email address to what is on our system). The whole process is currently managed by Google Forms and Sheets.
We clearly communicate that the list is for College-related purposes only, and, touch wood, we haven’t received any complaints over the years. Very few families request to be removed once they’ve joined.
There is some administrative involvement, including inviting new families to participate and removing families who are no longer at the College. However, overall, the list has been a very positive addition and is highly valued by families.
