Hi Caity! I am the photography point-person for everything from marketing shoots to everyday moments, college musicals and internal community events (e.g. first day of school, Mother’s/Father’s Day, Athletics/Swimming Carnivals, etc.) If I’m not available, usually someone from my team can help in a pinch.
We bring in external photographers for events that are important enough for photos but aren’t as relevant to marketing/comms and also don’t fall within regular hours (e.g. Valedictory), or for events/campaigns where it’s more important for me to be producing/directing (e.g. anniversary spring fair, new uniform launch, etc.) We hire externally usually up to three times per year, outside the regular outsourced class/individual school photos.
I agree with the other comments here that having high quality equipment does much of the work for you!
