Hi Julia, We moved to the PEG model half way through 2024. We have found it to be a much better model primarily because meetings are far more structured, thereby more productive. Our Principal chairs the meeting – I can provide a sample agenda if that’s helpful. We always have a segment that answers pre-submitted questions from parents – this is working very well as we can prepare answers in advance and parents don’t have to attend the meeting necessarily for the question to be discussed. I think we have a way to go in expanding the model to include interest groups (e.g. social events committee) however the model is flexible enough to incorporate these when the time is right or interest is shown from parents. While it more work for the Marcomms team in terms of preparing for the meetings, taking more of a lead with previously owned P&F events etc it is worth it for the benefits we are seeing so far. We average about 20 parents per meeting which is only slightly up on the old P&F model, however we are looking at ways we can broaden appeal and involvement such as hosting the meetings online or a hybrid. The parents that do come however, are a great group who provide constructive feedback and comments. It might be easier to chat over the phone as it’s a big conversation. We have just released PEG Guidelines which includes the PEG budget expenditure/voting process. We’ve been creating these documents from scratch so it has taken time to refine them.
