Hi Georgia,

I’ve recently had to navigate this myself as well.

Our P–12 college has over 1,250 students, and I am the sole Marketing and Communications person—in a relatively new role for our college. We also have one staff member handling enrolments.

If an event is aimed at attracting prospective families (such as Open Days and Taster Days), it falls under my responsibility. I also support the organisation of key events like Graduation, End-of-Year Presentations, and Formals, working alongside our Principal’s EA and Deputy’s EA.

There has been a push for me to take on an event management role in broader college events (such as Mother’s Day and Parent Information Nights etc.), but I’ve had to set boundaries. My core focus is on bringing new families to the college, rather than managing internal event marketing. This may change if we end up with more people in my team, but for now, I am limited to what I can reasonably do as a one person team.
Im happy to chat if you need.
