Hi Tamara – I’m at The Friends’ School in Hobart and we are on a similar path, looking at launching a bequest program in 2026. Everything you have mentioned sounds perfect. For us, an additional area we are very focused on for ‘in perpetuity’ gifts and programs is ensuring we have the internal capacity – systems, processes, resources – to be able to centrally store donors wishes during their lifetime, so that when the gift eventually comes in we are able to correctly execute their wishes in the short term and ‘forever’ regardless of personnel changes. We use Synergetic and I have been uploading and storing information about the bequests/gifts notified, the ‘in perpetuity’ Funds we manage, the annual distributions from those Funds and the recipients receiving those distriubutions back to 1923.
