At my previous school, we used to do a very big Fete every second year. It was organised by the P&F group, but required an enormous time commitment, lots and lots of volunteers, and plenty of paperwork. The approvals process from the local Council was intensive, especially where the service of food was concerned. The logistics were also very challenging for volunteers to coordinate and they were fortunate to have a parent with skills in that area on board to manage that. The school was blessed with an active and committed parent body, but it became more and more onerous as local legislations changed. I think the last one they tried to organise was scheduled for 2020/2021 and of course COVID derailed the plans. As far as I am aware, they haven’t organised one since.
