Hi Sarah,

Our school is slightly bigger than yours and has had a full-time videographer/photographer for about five years. When I worked out how much we were spending on freelance photographers and videographers, we decided it was worth bringing the role in-house to enhance ROI. We do a lot of videos now for socials, marketing campaigns, website and parent communications. He’s never at a loss for work; we have to be strict about focusing on school marketing rather than internal comms requests. We don’t rely on student support for various reasons, including consistency of style/brand and reliability.

If you haven’t already, I’d suggest you look at the analytics for marketing campaigns your videographer has worked on. If engagement has improved and driven enrolments, for example, then you may be able to make a business case for more FTE.

Good luck!
