For equipment, they use the School’s cameras from the Media Department. I also have a Comms Team camera but students typically would check out one from Media since its normal practice for them and they’re use to it those cameras anyways. A school-phone is useful if you wish to do more raw or mobile-style content (ie.IG Reels and Stories). If you’re looking for more photography style then a mirrorless camera is sufficient. If you want to something for video and interviews, I would suggest a DJI Osmo Pocket (with DJI Mic).

For debriefing, it depends, I generally prefer an in person conversation but this is more because I find it more helpful to support them in their media work but over email is perfectly fine.

For the content, as part of the Client-Vendor workflow, I generally ask for them to process a small selection of photos (10-20) and also upload the RAW files. We’re transitioning from Google to Microsoft at the moment and so the Media team still use Google Drive for their storage. They will typically send me a link when their work is ready. The media team teachers are also helpful to keep the students on track with their deliverables.

As a safeguarding measure, I would suggest to keep everything “in School” so students should be using school equipment, school software licenses, and school accounts to capture, process, transfer, and store the content.
