Relate to the issue particularly with the HEIC file type. I generally upload the images/videos into something like Canva on the phone itself to bypass the file type issue and then edit accordingly. It’s not great for things that need something more heavy duty like Premier Pro but for us usually things captured on iphones are a bit more casual and so using a program like canva is sufficient.
