Hi Ros
We also require both parents to provide contact details and sign the Letter of Offer. The reason being:
– Unless stated in court orders, both parents have equal responsibility for the child (including education)
– Unless stated in court orders, both parents have equal rights to access and receive information regarding their children and the school requires a way to identify and verify parents.
– Unless stated in court orders, both parents are equally and severally liable for school fees (regardless of what informal arrangements they have in place between themselves). We have required them to sign Stat Decs in the past but they have not held up when Parent B decides they no longer want to pay the fees down the line.
If parents push back, we encourage them to seek a change to the court orders in place stating the new financial or consent arrangements. Until that time, the school will act according to the court orders.
I hope this helps!
