Hi Bec
I have produced many yearbooks over 18 years in education and it never gets any easier. And the thing is that it’s actually a major project that is not a major part of our job — which means we splice it in amongst everything else.
With 1200 students, I suggest you need more support. You really do. And that is without including the yearbook.
Like you, I usually handle the yearbook myself. This involves calling for content, collating photos, gathering captions with student names, writing when submissions fail to materialise, editing, chasing up, design, proofing process and pre-press. I usually cannot take holidays over summer so it is produced in a fairly timely fashion for Term 1 – and this often involves weekends to meet the deadline if there is an early event for distribution.
I could not do it without the team. They continue to keep everything functioning and thriving in our busy school.
I hear you. You need support.
