You’ve raised a number of very relevant issues and I won’t seek to address them all here. However I have two key comments:
1. Do it! it is a great way to bring on board new or hesitant donors.
2. Make it relevant. In other words provide giving opportunities within the school’s needs which are relevant to the individual parent – either geographically within the school, (which sub-school or year level), or by project of possible interest. The notion of allocating donations “on a rotating basis” generally fails to equate with individual family giving motivation.
