Hi Shannon, we include a section on our online enrolment form regarding photo permissions, broken into consent for social media and school publications/newsletters. For each, we detail the limits of identifying their child. We explain that their child will not be identified in any group photos and only their first name would be given in captions. If they object to their child’s image being included, they tick a box and are then prompted to send an email confirmation to marketing regarding specifically under what circumstances they do not want photos taken of their child. This has led to the vast majority of parents giving consent, as we have addressed most parents’ concerns in the details provided regarding what photos are used for and that they would not be used for advertising.
For marketing use, we extract the photo and id of all students who do not have permissions from the enrolment data each year, so we know who not to include in images.
