How to Avoid the Top Pitfalls in School Capital Campaigns Professional Development Workshop
This workshop has been designed specifically for advancement professionals working within schools, this interactive session addresses one of the most significant strategic undertakings facing our sector: preparing for and delivering successful capital campaigns.
The workshop will be delivered in two focused parts:
Are You Ready?
Preparing for a Campaign Readiness Assessment, with practical and actionable insights to strengthen internal preparedness.
What Goes Wrong?
A deep dive into the six most common failures in school capital campaigns — and how to anticipate and avoid them. No specific examples will be cited. That is not the point of this workshop. Specific functions of campaign management and leadership that are critical success factors and contribute to campaign failure when they are not implemented effectively will be unpacked and discussed.
This hands-on workshop incorporates facilitated breakout discussion designed to challenge thinking, test campaign readiness and provide participants with practical tools they can apply within their own organisations.
Key Take Aways

Networking at St Patrick’s Chapel
All advancement professionals from across the Auckland region are warmly invited to join us for Chapter networking in Dilworth’s newly completed St Patrick’s Chapel.
This event is open to Members and non-members alike. You are welcome to attend the networking session whether or not you participate in the earlier Professional Development workshop.
St Patrick’s Chapel now serves as both a sacred place and a gathering hub for the Dilworth community — an environment reflecting heritage, aspiration and connection, and a fitting backdrop for professional conversation and shared insight.
During the networking session we will hear from Reverend Greg Worboys, Dilworth Chaplain, who will share the vision and significance of the new chapel within the life of the school. We will also hear from Ed Whiffin, Event & Community Engagement Manager at Dilworth, who will speak about how the school engaged its community throughout the build and accompanying fundraising campaign.
This is an opportunity to strengthen connections, exchange insights and engage with colleagues who understand the distinctive opportunities and challenges within advancement in educational settings.
