WA Chapter: Strategic Planning for your organisation, team and you

As organisations begin turning their attention to 2027 strategic planning, this timely session offers managers, directors, executives and aspiring leaders an invaluable opportunity to strengthen their strategic thinking and planning capability.

Together, we will explore the fundamentals of strategic planning, including the key questions leaders should be asking of their organisation and team, how to assess success meaningfully, and how to develop a plan that is both flexible and achievable. This session is designed to be practical and relevant, helping participants translate high-level strategy into clear, actionable direction.

We will work through real-world scenarios such as:

  • What should I do if my business unit or team function is not clearly reflected in the organisation’s strategic plan?
  • How can I break down an overly ambitious strategic plan into measurable priorities for my team and myself?
  • How can strategic planning help position me or my team for greater visibility at Executive table or Board level?
  • If I have little influence over the core “product” of my organisation, how can strategy still create impact?
  • Where do I begin with a community engagement plan when my stakeholders are so diverse?
  • If there is no existing alumni, admissions, marketing or broader strategic plan; or even a reliable database; why start with strategy at all?

This session will combine theory with interactive engagement, offering participants the opportunity to think critically, share ideas, and apply concepts in a supportive environment. Delegates are encouraged to come with an open mind, a willingness to contribute, and a readiness to engage in both reflection and practical planning.

Participants can expect to leave with a valuable toolkit of templates, frameworks and practical resources to support their own strategic planning work; whether for their organisation, their team, or their individual leadership growth.
