Genevieve G. Shaker, Ph.D
Genevieve G. Shaker, Ph.D., is the Donald A. Campbell Chair in Fundraising Leadership and Professor of Philanthropic Studies at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, the first school in the world dedicated to the academic study of philanthropy.
Her work focuses on fundraising and fundraising professionals, philanthropy, and higher education, with particular attention to how fundraising is understood and practiced. In her two decades as university fundraising and communications professional, she helped Indiana University connect with supporters and achieve significant goals.
She is the lead editor of the textbook Achieving Excellence in Fundraising (5th edition, 2022) and teaches regularly for The Fund Raising School, providing professional education domestically and internationally. She speaks to advancement teams and academic leaders on research‑informed approaches to donor engagement and fundraising.
Genevieve G. Shaker, Ph.D collaborated with Dr. Aaron Conley as co-authors of the book, Fundraising Principles for Faculty and Academic Leaders (Palgrave Macmillan 2021), which received the 2023 Association of Fundraising Professionals/Skystone Partners Prize for Research on Fundraising and Philanthropy.
