Hi Leanne – in this scenario we would most likely use WhatsApp. We have two official Broadcast-only WhatsApp Groups – one for Primary School and one for High School parents. We can’t make it mandatory for parents to join, however we believe that we have at least one parent from each family as a member. We have a Communications Team mobile phone that we use, to post messages on these groups – we only use the groups to post essential reminders and any urgent ad-hoc message that might be missed on our portal. We also have an unofficial network of WhatsApp Groups that are parent-run – if we had to, as an absolute last resort, we could use our ‘bush telegraph/grapevine’ to get a message out via parents.
