The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for the overall planning, creation and implementation of Redlands’ marketing and communications strategies in accordance with the School’s Strategic Plan to build and enhance the School’s strong reputation within the community.

About this Opportunity
With a developing brand refresh about to commence, Redlands is looking for a passionate and strategic Director of Marketing and Communications to lead and drive the Redlands brand to further build and enhance the School’s strong reputation within the community.
This role leads all aspects of marketing, communications, public relations and brand management, ensuring consistent messaging across all communication platforms, including owned and earned media, through compelling storytelling, brand alignment, and sector-leading digital engagement.
You will have a strong track record of interpersonal, advisory and influencing skills, with the capacity to work effectively with senior leaders, executive teams and a broad range of internal and external stakeholders in a collaborative, data-informed and values-aligned manner. Importantly, you will have a demonstrated ability to deliver results in customer engagement, acquisition and retention, through the provision of clear guidance, governance and direction while building trust and capability across teams.

This is a senior leadership role with five direct reports within the Community Engagement team reporting to the Head of Community Engagement.

About you
The successful applicant will the following skills, knowledge and experience:
Essential
• Degree qualifications in Marketing, Communications or a related discipline, or equivalent senior-level professional experience
• Significant senior leadership experience (typically 10+ years) leading Marketing and Communications functions, with demonstrated responsibility for strategy, brand stewardship and team leadership across digital, print and experiential platforms
• Exceptional writing, editing and editorial leadership skills, with the ability to set and maintain high standards of tone, style and quality across an organisation
• High level of professional judgement, discretion and integrity, particularly in managing reputational risk and sensitive communications
• Strong organisational and planning capability, including the ability to work proactively, manage competing priorities and operate autonomously where required
• Commitment to, and willingness to actively support, the ethos, values and strategic direction of the School
Desirable / Preferable
• Experience in the independent school sector, or a similarly values-driven, community-focused organisation
• Experience working in complex organisations with multiple stakeholder groups and high public visibility
