The Communications Specialist plays a key role in producing clear, engaging and brand-aligned communications across digital and print channels at Cornish College. This position supports and strengthens our community engagement, enhances organisational visibility and ensures the consistent delivery of high-quality content across social media, the College’s website and major publications.
Terms
This position is permanent part-time, 22.8 hours per week. These hours can be worked between the hours of 8.00am to 5.00pm with some requirement to attend after hours for school events. The role reports to the Director of Community Relations.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media Management:
- Create and schedule content across all organisational social media channels
- Maintain a consistent brand voice, visual identity and messaging
- Track analytics and recommend content strategies based on audience engagement
- Respond to comments, enquiries and messages professionally and promptly
Website Content and Review:
- Write, edit and update website content to ensure accuracy, clarity and currency
- Conduct periodic audits of website pages for currency, usability, accessibility and brand alignment
- Work with internal stakeholders and the external website support team to implement updates and enhancements
Print Publications:
- Coordinate the development and production of key publications:
o Annual Yearbook – Womin djeka
o Annual Report
o Bi-annual community magazine – The Difference
o Annual Performing and Visual Arts brochure and Leavers Booklet
o Special brochures or event publications, as required - Write and edit articles, gather stories and manage approvals, as required
- Liaise with designers, photographers and print suppliers to ensure quality and timely production
Content Creation and Brand Messaging:
- Produce written content for newsletters, media releases, brochures and promotional campaigns
- Ensure all communications reflect organisational voice, tone and values
- Maintain consistency with brand guidelines and communication standards
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build positive relationships with staff, students, families and external partners
- Collaborate across the College to collect stories, updates and relevant material
- Support internal communication and event promotion activities
