Sometimes it seems easier to keep your nose to the grindstone, to do what you are doing and do it well, than it is to lift your head up and figure out where your institution is headed and what the future may bring. The recent Educate Plus International Conference provided us with a perfect opportunity to ‘lift our heads’ and glance forward – in collaboration with many high calibre thought- leaders – allowing ourselves to imagine new possibilities for a brighter future in our schools, colleges and universities. It was great to catch-up with a large number of NSW/ACT Chapter friends across the ditch, many of whom contributed significantly to the success of the event by presenting sessions or contributing through the Organising Committee. Congratulations to all the outstanding Award winners from our Chapter and a special mention to our newly minted Fellows – Grace Paraino, Myfanwy Stanfield and Paul McShane (pictured below). Work is now well underway to shape an array of industry leading and engaging professional development initiatives delivered locally across the Chapter – including northern and southern regions – throughout 2019. I encourage you to keep a firm hold of the inspiration gained in Auckland and continue to be the voice for innovation and change in your institution.
