For many years our school has given a ring as a parting gift to Year 12 students – this is gifted by our foundation. The ring costs around $130 each. What does your school give and can you please give an approximate cost? I am keen to see what other schools give and what young people would find relevant.

      Hi Jennifer,

I give an alumni welcome gift to each student which is less than $10 in value, of either a mug, a keep cup, a special pen or a bracelet, all branded with the School’s logo. Last year I met with the Year 12 Head Girl and Head Boy to ask their preference.

From the School at the final assembly, we give a teddy bear wearing the School’s blazer. Please feel free to write to me and I’ll send you some costing on that. One year we also gave out a copy of Dr. Seuss’s “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” to each student at the Year 12 Graduation Dinner.

      Kind regards,

      Julia

      Hi Jennifer,
Our Yr 12 girls are given a silver bracelet with 2 charms (one with School crest and one with the year) at the Yr 12 Valedictory dinner. Cost is approx $35 each. And at the Graduation ceremony they are given a pin in the shape of the Wenona hat from the Alumnae.

      Hi Jennifer,

We put the question to the Y12 Leadership team, and they voted for keyring out of a variety of choices. It is a tangible gift they will be able to keep forever, and it is cost effective for us being under $11 per keyring.

      Thank you

      Kelly

      Hi Jennifer,

We also gave a ring which cost approx $65. We absorbed this cost into the graduation dinner ticket. It has been decided this year, that students will still receive a gift, however, we have reduced the cost significantly by shopping around, and each student will receive a 3 box set, tie pin, lapel in and cufflinks, all of which will be useful for the students in the future (approx $15 per set). We will still be absorbing that cost into the student graduation dinner ticket, therefore the cost is bore by the family, not the College.

      Regards,
      Sandra.
