Mentor Institutional Leadership

What the judges will look for

A.    Executive Summary 250 word maximum
Provide an overview of the submission outlining key features that address the criteria.  Ensure you include the start and finish dates for the project and that these dates are valid for the judging period (i.e. having started after July 2018).

B.    Background 300 word maximum
Provide a background to the project providing relevant details about the institution and a giving a context for the project.

C.    Strategy 1000 word maximum
Provide a comprehensive statement (this may include charts, graphs etc.) of the strategy for the project with reference to:

  • The project objectives
  • The project strategy – steps/process to achieve the objectives
  • Reasons this strategy chosen
  • Challenges
  • The timeline
  • Planning and milestones
  • Resources involved
  • Evidence of best practice

D.    Value for Budget
This criterion is very important as it allows institutions of different sizes to compete in a fair environment.  Your submission must include:

  • The project’s total budget
  • Accurate results (in the case of fundraising initiatives)
  • Provide details if a consultant has been engaged or assisted with the project.
  • The submission must be verified by the institution’s Business Manager

These details remain confidential at all times.

E.    Outcomes / Effectiveness
Judges will assess outcomes / effectiveness with regard to the budget / resources involved as well as the project objectives and the impact the success of the project made on your institution. Include details of how the project achieved its purpose including how it was evaluated and details of all project measurables where applicable.  For example:

  • Amount targeted, amount raised (fundraising categories)
  • Participation levels in an event
  • Admissions levels
  • Subscriber rates

F.    Creativity
Whilst this is a difficult criterion to define, the judges will be looking for industry best practice.  This may include:

  • Fresh, contemporary and innovative concepts
  • Application of technology in a new way
  • Development of practices to face new challenges/changing environment
  • Innovative solution to a project
  • Unique approach and delivery of project

G.    Presentation and Supporting Material
Your submission may include supporting documentation. These should be emailed as PDFs or links provided for larger files. (no hard copy materials will be accepted or forwarded for judging)

  • Up to 6 examples of relevant materials, plans publications, letters, scripts, advertisements etc.
  • A short statement of the purpose of the material in your overall project
  • Judges will look for presentation that reflects best practice in educational advancement
  • Judges will look for accurate, clear and easy to understand submissions
  • Where a section has a maximum word limit, ensure you adhere to these
  • Ensure all files are named to easily identify the content of file

Educate Plus Institutional Leadership Award Criteria

Nominees must satisfy the following criteria:

  • Be a Principal, Vice-Chancellor, Board Member or Chair of Foundation (or equivalent) at a school / institution in Australasia.
  • Be nominated by either an Educate Plus member or member’s institution in Australasia.
  • Have demonstrated outstanding ability to promote and support the advancement function within their school / institution and the wider community as evidenced by:
    • Leadership of a specific project / initiative
    • Clear documentation of plans, reviews and outcomes
    • Goals being exceeded
    • Have been personally involved at a significant level in an advancement initiative or initiatives.

Submission

  • Submissions for the Educate Plus Institutional Leadership Award should be lodged using the on-line Registration Form available at the Educate Plus website.
  • Using the template provided on the on-line Registration Form the submission should include a 500-1000 word statement from the nominator that addresses all the criteria.
  • A letter of support from a senior individual directly involved in a specific project / initiative, who is not a paid staff member, in support of the nomination, should be included.
  • Supporting documentation can be provided as attachments.

Judging

  • Judging for the Educate Plus Institutional Leadership Award is undertaken by a committee comprising Educate Plus Fellows and chaired by the Chief Executive Officer.

Educate Plus Volunteer Leadership Award Criteria

Nominees must satisfy the following criteria:

  • Be a volunteer who has not received any compensation for their contribution/s.
  • Be nominated by either an Educate Plus member or member’s institution in Australasia.
  • Have an outstanding ability to create a vision and inspire other volunteers and staff.
  • Increase the stature of their school / institution in the wider community.
  • Exemplify the highest standards of ethical conduct.

Submission

  • Submissions for the Educate Plus Volunteer Leadership Award should be lodged using the on-line Registration Form available at the Educate Plus website.
  • Using the template provided on the on-line Registration Form the submission should include a 500-1000 word statement from the nominator that addresses all the criteria.
  • Supporting documentation including three letters from others endorsing the nomination should be provided as attachments.

Judging

  • Judging for the Educate Plus Volunteer Leadership Award is undertaken by a committee comprising Educate Plus Fellows and chaired by the Chief Executive Officer.

Educate Plus Mentor Award Criteria

Nominees must satisfy the following criteria:

  • Be a financial member of Educate Plus.
  • Be nominated by their mentee who is also a financial member of Educate Plus.
  • The mentor / mentee relationship must have been registered under the Educate Plus Mentor Program and have been active for a minimum of 12-months prior to the nomination.
  • Both mentor and mentee must be registered to attend the subsequent Educate Plus International Conference.
  • The nominated mentor will be judged on the following criteria:
  • Regular contact with the mentee (at least quarterly over the previous 12 months)
  • Has instilled a strong sense of support and solidarity to the mentee
  • Has given considered, professional and effective advice
  • Positive demonstrated outcomes for the mentee from the advice provided
  • Demonstrated a willingness to exceed the expectations of the mentee

Submission

  • Submissions for the Educate Plus Mentor Award should be lodged using the on-line Registration Form available at the Educate Plus website.
  • Using the template provided on the on-line Registration Form the submission should include a 500-1000 word statement from the nominator that addresses all the criteria.
  • Supporting documentation, including examples of advice given, can be provided as attachments.

Judging

  • Judging for the Educate Plus Mentor Award is undertaken by a committee comprising Educate Plus Fellows and chaired by the Chief Executive Officer.

Educate Plus Newcomer Award Criteria

Nominees must satisfy the following criteria:

  • Have commenced working in the field of educational advancement since the beginning of the previous International Conference year.
  • Be a financial member of Educate Plus.
  • Be registered to attend the subsequent Educate Plus International Conference.
  • Have demonstrated involvement in their Educate Plus Chapter (e.g. by attending Professional Development, registering for the Educate Plus mentor program, etc.)
  • Exemplify the highest standards of ethical conduct.

Submission

  • Submissions for the Educate Plus Newcomer Award should be lodged using the on-line Registration Form available at the Educate Plus Australasia website.
  • Applicants may self-nominate.
  • Using the template provided on the on-line Registration Form the submission should include a 500-1000 word statement that describes a specific initiative (or initiatives) undertaken by the nominee, how this was implemented and the outcomes.
  • Supporting documentation, including a letter of endorsement from the Principal, Vice-Chancellor (or equivalent) of the nominee’s school / institution, should be provided as attachments.

Judging

  • Judging for the Educate Plus Newcomer Award is undertaken by a committee comprising Educate Plus Fellows
    and chaired by the Chief Executive Officer.

Educate Plus Fellows Program Criteria for admission to Fellowship

In order to be considered for admission to Fellow of Educate Plus Australasia, a member needs to meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of 7 years professional involvement in the educational development/advancement field.
  • A minimum of 7 years professional involvement in membership of Educate Plus.
  • A number of years of significant service to Educate Plus and the profession through membership of and genuine contribution to important Educate Plus committees and other forms of contribution.
  • Contribution to the profession of development/advancement through presentation of papers and organisation of seminars, conferences and other forums.
  • Willingly shares ideas and assist other members.
  • The final determination for the award of Fellowship rests with the Educate Plus Board.

Process of awarding Fellowships

  • Educate Plus members eligible to be admitted as Fellows must be nominated by their Chapter President.
  • Admission ceremonies are held every two years in conjunction with the Educate Plus International Conference.
  • The Educate Plus Australasia Chair officiates at the ceremony.
  • Fellows receive an award certificate.
  • Fellows may use the post nominal F.Edplus
